Implicit Bias Training

You can view the training requirements on page 4 & 5 of the LARA Professional Licensing Public Health Code state requirements for Implicit Bias. Answers to several commonly asked questions can be found in the FAQ for Implicit Bias Training or below:

When did this requirement begin? 

The new requirement took effect on June 1, 2022. The training is required for all renewals and new applications for licensure received on or after June 1, 2022.

How many hours of training do I need?

Renewals will require 1 hour of implicit bias training for each year of the license or registration cycle.  Optometrist are required to have 2 hours of Implicit Bias Training for each 2-year renewal period.  This is not a one time training.

Can I take this course in an On Demand (asynchronous) format?

On March 23, 2023, the LARA Professional Licensing Public Health Code - General Rules were updated to allow for this training to take place via "an asynchronous teleconference or webinar."

COPE Accreditation for Optometrist

This activity, COPE Activity ID# 125992, is accredited by COPE for 2-hours of continuing education for optometrist.
